ViewSonic ViewPad 10 Windows 7 Android Dual-Boot Tablet 1

ViewSonic releases its ViewPad 10 (model VPAD10) dual-boot tablet device with both Windows 7 and Google Android OSes. The 10.1-inch tablet is powered by an Intel Atom N455 1.66GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB SSD storage.

The ViewPad 10 features a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen LCD display with LED-backlit, 1024×600 resolution and a 1.3 Megapixel front camera. It supports Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and WiFi connectivity. The tablet packs also G-Sensor, E-Compass sensor and ambient light sensor. ViewSonic is offering two models, the VPAD10_AHUS_05 with 16GB SSD and the VPAD10_APUS_05 with 32GB.

The 16GB ViewPad 10 will be priced at $599 and the 32GB model costs $679. The former gets Windows 7 Home Premium and the latter has Windows 7 Professional while both of them have Android 1.6. 16GB model is already available at Amazon.com.

BenQ releases in China its R100 tablet device. BenQ ships the device with Android 2.2, instead of the tablet-optimized Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The R100 is powered by Samsung’s S5PC100 833MHz processor, 512MB RAM and comes with 8GB internal memory. It has a 10.1-inch 1024×600 touchscreen and a 3 Megapixel camera.

Apple iPad 2 Announced

Finally, Apple officially announced the iPad 2 that is lighter, thinner and faster than the original iPad. The new iPad 2 is 33% thinner and 15% lighter than the iPad. Powered by the new dual-core Apple A5 chip, the new tablet, according to Apple, is 9x faster than old version. While iPad has no cameras, Apple adds two cameras, one on the front and on on the back, to the iPad 2 for FaceTime video calling and photo shooting. The back camera can record 720p HD video at up to 30fps.

The iPad 2 comes with a 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS multitouch display with 1024×768 resolution at 132ppi, and fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating. It also packs Bluetooth support, 3-axis gyro, accelerometer, digital compass and ambient light sensor. WiFi-only and WiFi+3G versions are available and the latter will be available in two models, one with UMTS/HSDPA/GSM/EDGE support and the Verizon model that supports CDMA EV-DO Rev. A data. 3G version also includes GPS/A-GPS.

With the addition of cameras, the iPad 2 comes with the iOS 4.3 with the Photo Booth app that adding effects to your photos. The iPad 2 will be available in Black and White. It will be released in the US on 11 March, and in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK on March 25.
