Wacom announced three new pen tablets, the Bamboo Connect, Bamboo Capture and Bamboo Create designed to “bring ideas and creativity to life by delivering a flexible and fun computing experience”. These pen tablets have sleek design and comes with pressure-sensitive, battery-free and cordless pen that delivers precise input control and a true pen-on-paper feel.


The Bamboo Connect is a pen-only tablet and ideally suited for visual communicators who embrace pen usage for digital inking, doodling and white-boarding. It has a low-profile design with green accents. It comes with Autodesk Sketchbook Express and turns on the digital inking functionality in the latest versions of Microsoft’s Office Suite.

The Bamboo Capture features pen and multitouch input in a single device. It is made for photo enthusiast or novice designer seeking a fun way to turn ordinary photos into extraordinary ones using the pen’s 1024 levels of pressure with included software, Adobe Photoshop Elements and Autodesk’s Sketchbook Express. It comes with silver and black accent.

Lastly, the Bamboo Create offers 2X the work space than Bamboo Capture to give creative customers more freedom of movement when making broad pen, pencil or brush strokes on the tablet surface. You use the pressure-sensitive eraser on the other end of the pen to fix your error. It is ideal for home arts and crafts projects, photo editing as well as scrapbooking. Other than Sketchbook Express and Photoshop Element, the Create also comes with Corel Painter Essentials.

Toshiba announced in the US its Thrive 7-inch Tablet, a compact and lightweight tablet running Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS. The 7-inch tablet is powered by dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor comes with 16GB or 32GB internal memory. The device measures just 0.47-inch thick and weighs only 0.88 pounds, allowing it to fit easily into a bag or jacket.

The Thrive 7-inch comes with a 7-inch 1280X800 touchscreen with the company’s exclusive Adaptive Display and Resolution+3 video enhancement technologies, and built-in stereo speakrs tuned with sound enhancement technologies from Toshiba and SRS Labs. The new Thrive has a 5 Megapixel main caemra with LED flash and a 2 Megapixel front camera for video chat. It supports Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi connectivity.

The Toshiba Thrive comes equipped with built-in Gyroscope, offering hands-on motion control for the latest Android games. It will be released in the US in December.

MSI WindPad Enjoy7 Android 2.3 Tablet Released in Hong Kong

MSI launches the WindPad Enjoy 7 Android tablet in Hong Kong. Instead of Android 3.0 Honeycomb, the Enjoy7 runs Android 2.3 OS. The 7-inch tablet sports a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. It comes with a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display and two 2 Megapixel cameras for image shooting and video chat.

The Enjoy7 supports Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi connectivity and offers mini HDMI for bringing media playback to a bigger screen. The tablet weighs 395. It is available in Hong Kong for HKD$1798.

Velocity Micro launches two new Android tablets, the 8-inch Cruz T408 and the 10-inch Cruz T410. Both models run Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS instead of tablet-oriented Android 3.0 Honeycomb, though Velocity Micro has added a Honeycomb-like UI. They are powered by a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor with 512MB RAM and come with 4GB internal storage.

The Cruz T408 has a 8-inch 800×600 capacitive touchscreen and the T410 gets a 10-inch 1024×600 capacitive touchscreen. They support WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity and sport a front-facing camera. Velocity Micro’s tablets are pre-loaded with Kindle, Amazon appstore, Angry Bird Rio and QuickOffice, and support Flash. There is a microSD card slot for expansion.

The Cruz T408 and Cruz T410 are priced at $239.99 and $299.99, respectively.

HTC Jetstream Android Tablet

HTC is going to release the Jetstream, its first tablet running the tablet-oriented Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS. Exclusive to AT&T customers, the Jetstream supports LTE/HSPA+ 4G network and is available for $699.99 with a new two-year contract. The tablet is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8260 SnapDragon 1.5GHz dual core processor with 1GB of RAM.

The HTC Jetstream sports a 10.1-inch WXGA 1280×800 touchscreen, a 8 Megapixel main camera with dual LED flash and a 1.3 Megapixel front camera. The device runs Android 3.1 with the HTC Sense UX and supports Adobe Flash player. It supports Full HD 1080p video playback and recording and offers HDMI output. Users can use HTC Scribe, an optional digital pen accessory (available for free for a limited time) for taking notes, drawing and signing contracts.

The Jetstream comes with 32GB internal memory and has microSD/SDHC memory card. It supports WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0. It works on 700/AWS LTE, 850/1900/2100 MHz HSPA+, and quad-band GSM/EDGE networks.

Toshiba announced at the IFA Berlin its AT200 ultra thin, ultra light Android tablet as the follow-up to the AT100 Thrive. The new 10.1-inch tablet is just 7.7mm from front to back and weighs just 558g. It is powered by TI OMAP 4430 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS. You can expect up to 64GB internal storage.

It is equipped with built-in stereo speaker and offers docking port. The micro-HDMI-port allows streaming HD content to the large screen of a TV. You can also find 3D Accelerometer, gyrometer, electronic compass, ambient light sensor.

Toshiba will release the AT200 in Q4 2011.
