Barnes & Noble (B&N) introduces its all-new NOOK e-book reader with a touchscreen. The new NOOK is called by B&N as The Simple Touch Reader.It features a 6-inch e-ink Pearl display with Zeforce infrared touchscreen, like the new Kobo eReader Touch, that allows users to turn pages, look up words, highlight passages, adjust the font size and style easily. The newly-designed lightweight, slim reader is 35 percent lighter and 15 percent thinner than NOOK Wi-Fi 1st Edition.

The All-new NOOK has 2GB internal memory that holds up to 1,000 books and offers a microSD/SDHC card slot for expansion. It supports WiFi 802.11b/g/n and uses micro USB connector for charging and PC connection. The e-book reader supports ePUB and PDF files as well as JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP images. It offers a battery life of up to 2 months on a single charge with Wi-Fi off, the longest battery life of any eReader.

The new ultraportable NOOK Simple Touch Reader weighs under 8 ounces. It is available for pre-order for $139 and will e shipped on 10 June.

Hanvon unveils ERT touch technology

Hanvon unveiled new touch technology called ERT (Electromagnetic Resonance Touch). ERT can sense both pen input and finger touch - and is placed beneath the display panel and not above it like normal touch layers. It works by adding several capacitors to a normal digitizer touch sensor.

Kobo eReader Touch Edition E-book Reader

Canada-based Kobo launches its eReader Touch Edition with the new Infrared Touch Technology for a “Real Touch page turn experience”. The new eReader features a 6-inch Pearl e-ink 16-level grey screen, providing high contract reading experience even in bright sunlight. It has a single home button and a touchscreen that allows for a virtual keyboard and easy navigation.

The eReader Touch is powered by a freescale i.MX507 processor and comes with 1GB internal storage for storage up to 1,000 e-books. It supports ePub and PDF files, and comes with an improved virtual keyboard and improved search. Thereader ha a SD card slot for up to 32GB memory card (enough for 30,000 e-books) and a micro USB connector. It measures 114mm X 165mm x 100m and weighs 200g.

The stylish Kobo eReader Touch Edition is available in Lilac, Blue, Silver and Black. It will be available in June for $129.99.

Here are leaked shots of Dell’s Streak Pro tablet running Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The Pro tablet is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra T25 dual-core 1.2GHz processor and will include 3D support. It has a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 5 Megapixel main camera, a 2 Megapixel front camera. The Streak Pro will be available with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage options.

Dell is also planning to add the Stage UI to the Streak Pro. LTE 4G support will be an option. The tablet will come in blue, pink, red and black.
