Archos Honeycomb Tablets

Archos 80 G9 Android 3.1 Honeycomb tablet

Archos announced its G9 series Android tablets, including the 80 G9 and the 101 G9, both running Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS. The G9 tablets are powered by TI’s OAP 4 processor with ARM Cortex dual-core A9 running at 1.5GHz. They can be equipped with either 16GB flash memory or a 250GB hard drive.

The Archos 80 G9 has a 8-inch 4:3 1024×768 touchscreen while the 101 G9 comes with a 10.1-inch 16:10 1280×800 touchscreen. They sport a 720p front camera with 720p HD video recording, WiFi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in GPS receiver and compass, built-in speaker, microSD/SDHC card slot and HDMI output. According to Archos, the G9 tablets “are the only tablets able to decode 1080p H264 High Profile videos whilst current standard tablets are not even able to play 720p H264 High Profile smoothly.”

Instead of offering a 3G model with integrated 3G modulr, Archos decided to release a 3G USB dongle for the G9 tablets. The $49 dongle is a standard 3G stick for laptops which has been designed to be compatible with all ARCHOS G9 tablets, adding support for 3G mobile network. The Archos 80 G9 starts at $279 and the 101 G9 at $349.

The MeeGo phone is powered by TI’s OMAP 3630 ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor, PowerVR SGX530 graphics and 1GB of memory. It runs MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan.

Nokia’s new N9 comes with built-in support for NFC and includes Dolby Headphone and Dolby Digital Plus for enhanced audio. It comes in16GB and 64GB models.

Archos launches its Arnova 7 Android tablet that costs just $99. The 7-inch device runs Android 2.2 Froyo OS. With such price point, don’t expect capacitive touchscreen. The Arnova 7 has a 7-inch 800×4800 resistive touchscreen and supports WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity. It can handle H.264, MPEG-4, RealVideo video playback up to 720p resolution at 30fps.

ViewSonic adds to its line of tablet the new ViewSonic 730, an Android tablet designed for the value seeker who doesn’t want to compromise on features. Powered by an ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM, the 7-inch tablet runs Android 2.2 OS. It comes with 8GBinternal memory


The ViewBook 730 has a 8-inch 800×480 LED-backlit touchscreen with RiteTouch technology that allows users to use the included stylus pen to write directly on the screen of the device, swipe across content and scroll through emails. MSI WindPad 110W Windows 7 Tablet PC and WindPad 100A Android Tablet

MSI announced at the Computex 2011 two new tablet devices, the WindPad 110W running Windows 7 and the WindPad 100A Android tablet. These WindPad devices are designed in collaboration with fashion designer Jeremy Scott.

The 100W is powered by AMD’s Brazos Fusion dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM and Radeon HD6250 graphics. It packs up to 64GB SSD for storage. It weighs 850g. The WindPad 100A, on the other hand, sports dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor, 1GB of memory and 32GB SSD. Both devices are equipped with G-sensor, Ambient light sensor, SD card slot, USB connector and HDMI port.

The 110W and 100A come with a 10-inch 1280×800 IPS touchscreen display and support WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity. Also included is the SRS PC Sound audio enhancement technology.

First announced at the CES 2011, Asus’ Eee Pad MeMO is a 7-inch Android tablet. Now, at the Computex 2011, Asus has added 3D capability to the device and calls it Eee Pad MeMO 3D that has a 7-inch glasses-free 3D IPS LCD touchscreen display. The screen offers 1024×600 resolution and supports multitouch.

The Eee Pad MeMO runs latest version of Android OS. Like the HTC Flyer, the MeMO will come with a capacitive stylus.

Gigabyte brings to the Computex 2011 its S1080 slate-style tablet PC. The 10.1-inch device is powered by an Intel Atom N550 1.66GHz dual core processor and runs Windows 7. It sports 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive and integrated Intel GMA 3150 graphics.

The S1080 has a 10.1-inch capacitive multitouch display with 1024×600 resolution and LED-backlit. It supports WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 as well as 3.5G WWAN network connectivity. The tablet also comes with a 1.3 Megapixel webcam, 1.5Wx2 stereo speakers, and USB 3.0 connector.

ViewSonic brings to the Computex 2011 its ViewPad 7x, the world’s first 7-inch Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet. Powered by a Tegra 2 dual-core processor, the ViewPad 7x runs Android 3.0.1. It features a 7-inch 1024×600 touchscreen and offers HDMI output.

The ViewPad 7x will include support for HSPA+ mobile network, in addition to Bluetooth and WiFi. It comes with front and back cameras. The tablet weighs just 380g. No words yet on availability and pricing.
