NOOK Color
With the new NOOK Tablet joining the line-up, B&N lowers the prices of NOOK Color and NOOK Simple Touch (known as NOOK Touch before) to $199 and $99 respectively. While the prices are dropped, B&N releases software updates to both of them.
NOOK Simple Touch
The NOOK Color is going to have multimedia upgrade offering access to Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandara..etc services, while the Simple Touch is getting 25 percent faster page turns and longer battery life.
Barnes & Noble (B&N) updates its NOOK line by introducing the new NOOK Tablet, a 7-inch tablet device designed for HD entertainment, intended to compete with Amazon’s Kindle Fire. In addition to B&N’s digital bookstore, the NOOK Tablet also offers access popular movies, TV shows, music and more through the top entertainment services, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora and others. It features a 7-inch VividView IPS touchscreen display with 1024 X 600 (169 ppi).
The NOOK Tablet is powered by a dual-core TI OMAP4 1GHz processor with 1GB of RAM. Running Android OS, the tablet offers fast web browsing, access to email, and thousands of apps. The 7-inch device supports not only Epub, PDF, XLS, DOC, PPT, TXT documents files, but also MP4, H.264, MPEG-4, H.263, VP8 videos as well as common image and audio formats. It has 16GB internal memory and supports microSD card up to 32GB.
B&N’s NOOK Tablet supports WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity. It provides up to 11.5 hours of reading or 9 hours of video without recharging with wireless off. The tablet is priced at $249.
