The most popular alternative are treatements that use essential oils as a way to prevent or get rid of these pests. Sadly, I could find little more than anecdotal evidence to suggest that any of these natural remedies actually work. The best alternatives I found are ones of cleanliness.
To prevent a build up, it is important to keep the house very clean. Ensure all the pets bedding is cleaned on a very regular basis. Use the hoover every day to keep the house, especially the floors in a very clean state. This will destroy anything living i carpets or bedding.
It is also worth noting that washing your pet in a nice warm shower on regular occasions can help limit ticks and fleas. Ttry this and see how much it helps. It will certainly do more good than harm. To get rid of fleas you can use a flea comb. This effectively combs out the fleas. Just ensure you rinse in hot water between each and every pass. That way you will kill the fleas as you go.
In conclusion I found very little to suggest natural ways are anywhere near as effective as a frontline flea and tick treatment when it comes to preventing your pet having these pests attack them. natural remedies just do not seem to be anywhere near as effective. Keeping your animals away from areas where these parasites are rife is probably the best means of prevention.
