Toshiba released its Excite 10 LE, the world’s thinnest and lightest 10-inch tablet, in the US. Also known as AT200 and Excite X10, the slim and lightweight tablet measures just 0.3 inches (7.7mm) thin and weighis just 1.18 pounds (535g). The price is $529.99 for 16GB model (AT205-T16) and $599.99 for 32GB model (AT205-T32). You can get one from Amazon.com. It comes loaded with Android 3.2 Honeycomb with future upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The Excite 10 LE is powered by 1.2GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 multicore mobile processor with 1GB of RAM. It sports a 10.1-inch AutoBrite IPS 1280×800 touchscreen display with 10-finger multitouch, Gorilla Glass and LED backlight. The 5 Megapixel main camera with LED flash is capable for 1080p Full HD video recording, and the 2 Megapixel front camera is ideal for video chat. It has micro HDMI port so users can show HD content on a big screen HDTV.
The Excite 10 LE supports Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi 802.11b/g/n and is equipped with Gyroscope, Accelerometer, eCompass and Ambient Light Sensor. There are also stereo speakers with sound enhancements by Toshiba and SRS Labs. MicroSD card slot is available for expansion and micro USB for charging and PC connection. The super slim tablet has built-in 25 watt-hour rechargeable lithium ion battery that provides up to 8 hours of use.
